About the Course
These courses are intended for those people who would like to rekindle their sense of wonder by exploring the geography of our skies. They might well appeal to pilots from other disciplines within our aviation community.

Course Format
2 Days, 2 Instructors, 4 students, 2 Gliders

Up to 6 winch launches or 3 aerotow launchesÂ
A typical day will look like:
09:00 – Prepare gliders
10:00 – Airfield Briefing & formulate days planÂ
11:00 – 12:00 Classroom Work
Primary sources of lift - how to recognise, how to use, etc.
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch break (lunch provided)
13:00 – 18:00 Flying
18:00 – Social gathering to discuss the day

This will depend on the weather, but we would expect each student to be in the air for 2-4 hrs each day

The Course Fee includes a Membership with the Omarama Gliding Club enabling participants to take up to 6 flights in total – including those taken during the course. Beyond 6 flights requires a Full Flying Membership with the Club and a Flying Membership with Gliding New Zealand.
This is a two-day introductory course designed for those who want to experience the exhilaration and joy of soaring a glider.
